April 27th, Guest Drag Preacher, Rev. Marge Erin Johnson (she/her)
Sunday Message: HA:N welcomes back drag preacher and theologian, Rev. Marge Erin Johnson (she/her) as our guest preacher on this Second Sunday of Easter. She will reflect on the post-resurrection witness of Mary Magdalene, the first to encounter the risen Christ and the first to proclaim the gospel.
Rev. Marge Erin Johnson (she/her) is a multifaceted individual whose career spans across spiritual leadership, entrepreneurship, writing, and the creative arts. Her alter-ego, Rev. James Admans (they/them), currently serves as the Pastor at the Church of Christ, Congregational in Millis, Massachusetts.
Originally from Connecticut, after completing degrees in Anthropology (Southern Connecticut State University) and Forensic Anthropology (Boston University School of Medicine), Marge’s academic journey led her to Union Theological Seminary in New York City, where she earned a Master of Divinity degree, delving into Biblical studies, social ethics, and queer theology. During her final year at seminary, her commitment to advocacy was honored with the Malcolm Boyd Veritas Award, recognizing her impactful social justice endeavors within the LGBTQIA+ community.
She has made a significant mark in religious literature by compiling "Beyond Worship: Meditations on Queer Worship, Liturgy, & Theology," an anthology that garnered a 2023 Independent Publishers Bronze Medal for its profound contributions to religious thought by queer and transgender theologians from a variety of faiths and backgrounds.
Rev. Marge is widely known for her unique and vibrant drag ministry— dynamic expression of faith that champions love, justice, and liberation. More about Marge/James and their ministries can be found on their website: theologyqueen.com
