Guest Preacher: Sarah Kim-Williams(she/they) is a writer and educator whose work centers on illness, disability, and Asian American literature. Sarah is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Disability Studies at the University of Illinois Chicago.

Sunday Message: As we close Disability Pride Month, we turn to the Gospel of Mark to reflect on the role religious communities might serve in the pursuit of disability justice. What does it look like for sacred communities to pursue collective healing for all? How might we read the miracles that Jesus performed as invitations to practice radical access in our schools, cities, workplaces, community gatherings, and world?

We gather to affirm that disabled, sick, and chronically ill people are sacred, holy, and integral members of the body of Christ. Disability Pride, like Capernaum (the location where Jesus performed many healing miracles), is not limited or confined to one month, a specific time period, or physical geographic space. It is embodied and lived into by those who have the hearts to listen.
